Why do dogs smell worse after bathes?

Who else agrees that dogs are just to needy?
before anyone jumps down my throat, i do like dogs I even have a gorgeous Chesapeake retriever, and I also have 3 cats and 2 horses....out of all my pets my dog is the most needy one, i think that's what draws some people to them and others people prefer cats.don't you agreeand yeh yeh mans best friendloyal Companion la de da, but really they just want your every minute, i take my dog for long walks, he goes to the horses and even the dog park, then as soon as we get home i just have to stand up to go into the bathroom and he acts like he hasn't seen me in years...

Are there any small lazy dogs that require little maintenance?

Is it ok to crate 2 dogs at the same time?
I have 2 six month old Patterdale Terrier bitches from the same litter and they have been crated together since 9 weeks old. I am concerned as one of them is getting quite dominant of the other and twice a week I have to leave them alone for up to 7 hours. I have an XL crate and was wondering if it's OK to keep leaving them in there together?

What do you think? Two dogs, or one?
I know I've asked this question before. And if you have a problem with that, don't answer. Sorry if I came off rude, but I got some emails from people complaining. I have a great doggy, he's a four year old Finnish Lapphund. He generally gravitates toward listening to my mother, and doesn't show me much affection. Although he doesn't ignore me, the original intent of getting him was so I would have a pet, and I was planning on doing agility or disc, but he's not interested. I still love him a lot, but he's a lazy boy no matter how much I try to play with him He's on the verge of couch potatoe, and he virtually does nothing... EXCEPT when he's with another dog. He loves puppies, and it's pretty much the only time he plays and barks. Plus, I read that if you have a lazy RESCUE dog, sometimes they don't learn to play and having a second will increase their activity. I think I finally got my mom to agree to getting a puppy. We just visited our neighbors new puppy and Sammie did great He came to life, practically. He wanted to play and was a lot more vocal then usual. The problem is, I don't want Sam to be jealous of the new pup. I don't want him to feel like we're replacing him or anything. Afterall, I'd do it not only for my hapiness but for his benefit, too. What do you think?

Whats wrong with my dogs tail?
My dog has stopped wagging her tail she is very quiet and not herself, nothing has happened what we have seen. She cant lift it up and if we try to she yelps, she always has her tail in the air and always wagging it so this is very unusual. I am taking her to the vets tomorrow but just sat here worrying, has anyone any ideas what it can be? She is a black lab. thanks

What should I do about my dogs swelling foot?
My dog had surgery on Thursday to remove a growth from her leg. I've noticed that her foot was swelling on Saturday so I called the vet. She said to remove part of the bandage because it was on too tight. I did this, and it's still swelling. I can't take her to the vet today because I don't have a car, and no one will give me a ride. What should I do?

How can I improve my skills as a dog owner?
I own a 8mnth old border colle x lurcher, her nature overall is very timid, she can get fearful when other dogs try to sniff her bum tail between the legs, running away This behaviour is improving though, she now walks up to meet dogs and other men this is a HUGE improvement I can leave her home alone during the day and she wont destroy my house or make a mess, she normally just chews her toys, but occassionaly a book if it is left lying on the floor. She has an exercise and feeding routine established, but due to work sometimes I have to walk her at different times in the morning. When I take her running with me behind the bike, she is great, doesnt pull stays in and is not to easily distracted. However when I take her for a walk she often pulls on the lead, this is NEW behaviour, it has happend since we moved to the city more distractions? Also, her recall is going down hill At home, fine, I can get her to sit, stay, come, her stay is not so great, but getting better. However lately she when I have taken her off leash, she has run offto chase birds etc, and her recall has not been instnat, I dont smack her when she comes back, I give her praise etc.I need some tips on how to deal with these distractions, and on her timid ness around other dogs and children who she is very gentle with but much prefers to be away from she will just go and lie down behind a chair when the kids are runnig amuck

If you own a dog, would you consider me to walk your dog for you?
I am thinking about dog walking in my local community but i'm not sure what people would make of a 16 year old dog walker. Some of the things I would advertise is that I have 14 years of Dog Ownership experience, I have a passion for dogs and i'm CRB Police Checked. Also I would let them know more about me e.g that i'm studying Geography, ICT and Maths in 6th Form. Also i'll get references from friends, family and maybe teachers at my school. So if you own a dog, would you consider me to walk your dog for you? Thanks for taking time to read and answer my question.

How to pamper a boy dog?
All my life, I have had small girl dogs. I loved to put bows and clips in their hair and pampering them all the time. But after my little girl died, I have adopted a boarder collie Jack russel mix. He's about 20 lbs so he's much bigger then my late cavalier king charles. What can I do to jazz him up without actually putting clothes on him . I'm DYING to put bows on him, but I'm resisting.... lolWhat accessories can I put on him without turning him into a girly dog? I still want it to be more fun then just putting a bandanna on him though. Here's a picture photos f.ak.fbcdn.net hphotos ak snc3 hs186.snc3 19334 104665036223411 100000397445772 118716 1232273 n.jpgYeah, he's also my running dog. And I just like to pamper my dog with things like that. I mean, they like the attention.

What make of dog nail clippers would you recommened?
I have to clip my older dogs nails as she isn't walking as far as she used to now.The clippers I have are very flimsy, are there any makes anyone would recommend, I live in the UK.
