Is there a website that I can learn about different dog breeds?
Why do people tend to be so stereotypical of the different dog breeds?? please read for examples...?
we have two dogs right now as well as two cats and a baby on the way. we got a golden retriever almost a year ago as an 8 week old puppy he just turned 1 the end of May and I got a chow around mid March when she was about 6 7 weeks old. everybody seems to think that we did really good with getting our golden but that we screwed up bigtime when I got my chow I had one when I was a teen he was VERY laid back and wanted another one that I could start raising to have as a watchdog since we have a baby on the way I know goldens, labs, etc are really good with kids by nature and chows would tend to be more aggressive with kids by nature . but its not necessarily the breed of dog in the first place. its how the dog is raised and treated that makes the difference. also, a lot of people think that bulldogs are bad to have around kids, but I've been around bulldogs since my mother was pregnant with me and have NEVER had a problem with them so why are people so stereotypical????

So, I'm moving in a few months out to a house in the country, so my parents said I could get another dog. We have a beagle mix and a min pin right now. I really like Chinese dogs, so I've narrowed my choices to either a Pug, Pekingese, or Shih Tzu. We used to have a Shih Tzu, so I know how to take care of one.So, which breed would you recommend for me? Which are the easiest to care for? Any special instructions I should follow? Thanks

I'm going to school to become a Dog Behaviorist. Classes and books can teach you a lot, but I know if you don't have the hands on experience with different dog breeds you are missing a big chunk of knowledge.What would be some of the best ways to gain the experience of working with and observing the behaviors of different breeds? I have ideas myself of how to do this, but maybe some of you know of ways I haven't thought of yet. Thanks for your help
Would you get a different dog breed?
im curious as ive made some decisions on what i will be getting after college after going through a Goliath list and asking loads of Q and studying breeds . so if you could own another breed what would it be?companion of course but doing agility? show? schutzhund?other events?would you do as i did in selecting a dog?get a list of 30 or more dogs meet your interest study the breeds and keep narrowing the field down until you find another companion?i have told friends this list and they say " wait i thought you were getting a insert breed " me. " no i learned they probably wouldnt be best for me and i for them tell reason " lol when they would ask i would tell them my top choices of what i thought would be best but told them i was still narrowing the field down often number 1 or 2 was knocked off the list completely.thankfully finally decided.i went to 1 dog show and two dog breed expos that were held by a dog club in my park back home im hoping to attend the next dog show in my area
Can You Show Two Different Dog Breeds In Conformation?
Most of you know, I am getting a show Hungarian Vizsla in 1 2 years I will be doing agility, conformation & obedience with mine.The Chihuahua & the Vizsla's are my loves I love everything about both breeds. I have a Chihuahua right now & I cannot picture life without a Chihuahua. All my dogs are rescues by the way so this will be my first show quality dog but since I am a newbie I want to start of with the Vizsla because thats the breed I have been wanting for a long time now. I am pretty much good on the breed, been studying day in & day out, been to some shows, talked to Vizsla people, been looking for breeders etc. I still want to wait the 1 2 years. Just cause i am still learning about conformation, agility and all that good stuff. So anyway lets say after awhile, when I am not considered a newbie anymore would it be possible to show 2 different breeds? Please explain, thank you.
Different dog breeds?
Everyone can help I have four dogs now and three of them have the common yellow eye shine when their eyes reflect off of a light. One of them has a green eye shine. We think she's part doberman and we're wondering if the dog breed has anything to do with the eye shine color. All of the dogs have regular dark brown eyes. If you could, can you give your opinion on this? Also, if you have a dog, could you post what breed it is or what you think it is and it's eye shine color. I might do a science project on this. Thank you so much I mean eye shine like when you take a picture and the dog's eyes glow a different color. Kind of like when people take pictures their eyes are red.Or sometimes they glow when light hits them in the dark
