What dog breeds can adapt to apartment living?
Which dog breeds are aggressive?
Okay, so I swear I'm not trying to start a whole hate debate here, so please keep it as clean fair and non hateful as you can. I'm just curious as to what the average human being thinks is an 'aggressive' breed. I've been researching BSL's and have found some pretty interesting guidelines and laws. And a few of the breeds banned have surprised me I didn't know places actually banned Malamutes, Husky, GSD, etc. There is even a town in Iowa with a law stating any dog over 100lbs must be muzzled when in public. So, again, please leave out any super mean rude hateful ranting, just simply list the breeds you consider aggressive or dangerous. Or you can even say " Large breeds" or " Small breeds" or whatever. Again, just curious at the average joe's opinion on this matter. BSL's continue to suprise me.Thanks in advance. Trisha I understand where you're coming from with that, and I agree every dog can be aggressive if you allow it, but I'm meaning more like which breeds specifically in your mind have been labelled aggressive. Or which breeds have that stereotype in your area, which are banned where you live, etc. I'm just curious as to why these laws have been made. I've always heard of Rotties, Pits and Dobermans being the 'aggressive' breeds but lately have been learning a lot more are banned that I haven't expected.Okay, maybe I'm being a little confusing in a way. Normally I hate when people stereotype breeds, but in this case I'm actually asking which stereotypes you might have personally, or the general population where you live has. Not trying to spread the stereotypes, just attempting to understand them in a way. Just a little curious as to which breeds are being stereotyped. Since where I live, every breed is still legal, so I have no experience with BSL's at all. Just curious at to why these laws are being put into place at all. I get that any dog can be aggressive, just as any dog can be sweet and friendly.

Athletic but calm dog breed?
Im looking into getting a puppy and with so many options, I don't really know what breed would be best for me. I'm also looking into my shelters around where I live. I live in Chicago so it can be either brutally Cold or Hot, or just a nice temperature. To specify what I am looking for in my dog Short to medium hair Athletic dog that likes to run Obedient easy to train good on the leash Medium to large size Friendly but protective at the same timeSome dog breeds that I am looking into right now is the German Shepard, Australian Shepherd, and greater Swiss Mountain Dog. But the GSD and GSMD are quite big. I was also thinking lab but I'm not too set on them.
Dog Section: Dog breeds and stereotypes??
How was your weekend?? Mine was ok, I had to stitch up a dog that had been in a fox pen. Suturing is fun Lol note my sarcasm. So this is my question. What breed stereotypes have you seen to be mostly " true" or " false" ? Here it seems that the toy or tiny mix mutts breeds Chihuahua, Yorkie " poo" ...etc seem to be the worst mannered. The owner think it's so " funny" " cute" , these are the dogs NOBODY wants to be put on the schedule for. Lol. Oh, and the big dogs are usually the sweet, mild mannered ones that don't jump, nip, growl, or kick. They let you do what you need to do and they go about their business. I have nothing against small dogs, but sometimes they have large...egos. Lol. Bq Do you walk your dog or use a prong?? My answer No to both, I live in the country on fenced land so they run around on 30 acres all day. Lol. As far as the " controversial" prongs, I don't use them. My mentors, vets, and nurses know how to train their dog to walk correctly as in not pulling , so why shouldn't I. Lol.
What would be a good dog breed for me?
I need a dog that's quiet and calm because that's how my family is. It should be small medium size because it will sleep in my bedroom. We have a large yard though so it will get a lot of exercise. It will be outside for a couple hours on Monday's Wednesdays and Friday's while I go to classes but my dad will be home to check on it. I wanted a smaller dog but I've never had one so I'm uneasy about leaving it outside alone. I've always had big dogs so I'm not sure how different a little dog will be. Right now I only have 1 cat but she's always sleeping so I don't think that will be a problemI have gone to the SPCA but the only dogs they have are full grown pitbulls. Normally I wouldn't mind a pitbull but I have younger sisters and wouldn't want a dog that could hurt them. Every dog I've adopted has Also had separation anxiety, we loved them but we can't handle another constantly barking dog.

What is the best dog breed / personality traits to look for while adopting for protection / camping companion?
First, my fiance is wanting to get a job eventually and sometimes he's gone for the weekend for National Guard. Secondly, I want to go camping sometimes by myself . I have a little border collie mutt that I adore, but he was abused in his former home so he's pretty skittish of everything. If the cat meows, he's hiding under the bed. He's a good warning dog, and I love him more than anything... But we are moving soon and I don't want to separate him from my fiance's siblings and mom because they've grown attached to them. He's good for them indoors and whatnot... Anyways, I'm looking for a bigger dog that automatically has that protective instinct, but could also go hiking for a good distance. I plan to adopt, so I'm looking for both breed and what personality traits to look for when I go looking at dogs.
