Koehler dog training method?
I have started looking into Koehlers dog training methods and I it seems like a great training method ,but, I have one concern. Many people say it is abuse. Some of the examples the give are Correcting digging by filling the hole with water and holding the dog's head under " until he's sure he's going to die" and doing this for several days in succession. Hanging the dog on a choke chain with his feet off the ground, and chides the " soft" owner who may then feel sorry for the dog that vomits and collapses. He recommends such dangerous techniques as duct taping a chewed object into a dog's mouth for days to punish chewing. He recommends threading a dowel through a rubber hose and hitting the dog with it for up to 20 minutes to " correct" some problems.Is this true? I am getting the book to see if it has good methods but the examples above kind of threw me off.

I need help with my dog training technique?
My family and I have adopted a dog. Bourbon is a 14 month old springer spaniel bitch. Shes had one previous owner and is house broken. She understands the sit command but right now assumingly she is super hyper....because of the change and is not following the command consistently.....any how....im determined to train my dog....i am not able to pay to have her trained professionally right now...so ive,been researching trainning techniques... I would like to know how long I should train per day....and should I be trainning her one command per day? and also ive been trying to train with dog food but shes not interested went out and bought special snacks hoping these migjt encourage to obey for this reward....any tips on what snack is used for trainning....? Thanks...Fyi this is my first dog so be eady on me...
Has anyone worked with Bob Gailey, dog training center in Astatula FL?
I want to take my Aussie here for more training but it's pretty pricy and I havn't heard of a whole lot about this guy. Can anyone recommend him from personal experience?

Dog running off / dog training - chocolate lab?
Hi I have a chocolate labrador retriever, she is great in the house and on her lead, but when out on walks and I let her off her lead she is off, a typical retriever trying to find what she can eat, roll in etc. The problem is her recall when she disappears and its happening more often now and becoming very embarrassing and a worry that she will hurt herself as we take her to an open area national trust land , or that she will be taken etc she can do recall but appears to smell something and goes into a hunt frame of mind, and pays no attention to us calling her name, treats or her whistle. I wonder if any one can recommend a good trainer in the merseyside area ? one that does not concentrate on agility etc although I know she will probably need one to ones initially. She is a rescue dog and I am also fearful that other members of the households patience is wearing thin and that they keep suggesting a return to the rescue which I don't want to do. Or if anyone has experience of this behaviour and can make any suggestions. I don't want to have to keep her on the lead as she is full of energy and don't think its fair on her. Thank you

Hector The problem is he does this in ALL of his training videos, in his leash training video he walked around with an already trained dog saying you need to connect with your dog and just said " yeeeeaaaahhh thaaaaatss riiiiiiight " to the dog the ENTIRE time. But on top of that he has never talked about a dog that is actually dominant towards its owner, or a dog that does not care what you do when it is determined to get to something, a dog that will pull full force on a prong collar and not care about the pain. And I have asked SEVERAL questions, ones that would really stump him, and he either never responds or just deletes them.And on top of that Border Collies can be easy dogs when you exercise them enough, and he has Border Collies, and he exercises them a lot, and that is the only kind of dog I have ever really seen him with...
Tips on dog training?
I'm 13 and I have a wolf, which is slightly more stubborn than an average dog. In the future I want to have a wolf rescue, that is why I have him. It is a lot of work but it is really worth it. I read books on raising him by nicole wilde but any extra hints will be helpful. Don't write hate messages, cause I don't care and I'm tired of it, shut up and leave me be. I've already heard the fake messages " He will turn" No they don't if you raise them right. " They are aggressive" pf ft not.Any dog training tips help, he's not too different from a dog, he is a sweetheart.Thanks to anyone who helps
I need help with dog training?
We have had him since he was 8 weeks. He is 1 year now. We are trying to pad train him. He is a chihuahua. When ever he is in the bathroom with the pads he goes on them, when ever he is in the hall and the bathroom with the pads is open, he goes on them. But whenever he is open to the whole house he goes EVERYWHERE we have punished him by closing him in his crate, we have said NO, we have done so much and nothing is working. Are there any suggestions?we only crate punished him once.and we can't take him outside, thats why we wanted to pad train him. I need suggestions about PAD TRAININGHe knows he has done something wrong, as soon as you raise your voice he runs into the bathroom. He knows he went in the wrong spot because when you bring him to the spot where he went he is scared. We don't punish by hitting or sticking his face in the pee or poo. We just close him in the bathroom whenever he pees or poos.I tried taking him outside. I would walk him for 20 min then take him inside. I would in about 2 min find him pooping on the floor.
