Dogs

Question: Who else agrees that dogs are just to needy?

Before anyone jumps down my throat, i do like dogs I even have a gorgeous Chesapeake retriever, and I also have 3 cats and 2 horses....out of all my pets my dog is the most needy one, i think that's what draws some people to them and others people prefer cats. don't you agree and yeh yeh mans best friend loyal Companion la de da, but really they just want your every minute, i take my dog for long walks, he goes to the horses and even the dog park, then as soon as we get home i just have to stand up to go into the bathroom and he acts like he hasn't seen me in years...

I wouldn't consider them 'needy' they're social animals and yes I think some people find it easier and enjoy a cats company more than with dogs but I like the feeling of taking care of a dog. I'm really enjoying training my dog and I cannot live without one. Ever. haha!

Yes dogs are a pain..you cant go anywhere for long periods, need walks, shots, food...but i love my 2

Maybe you should be grateful that you have someone who is so excited to see you (I do not mean that in a rude or demeaning way) I can leave the room for 5 minutes and my dog is excited to see me again as if she had not seen me in a year.... its nice to have someone who cannot talk (and tell me her opinions on my dirty room or terrible cooking) but genuinely gets excited to see me every time i walk in the door despite my mood or appearance haha

Dogs are pack animals like wolves. they want to be with the pack. you are the pack leader he wants to make you happy. its just the way they are. most of us wouldlnt change it for the world.

I wouldn't say they were "needy " but why wouldn't you want a living creature to be so excited when you walk in a room, even if you were just in the room a few seconds ago? Maybe your right maybe that's why people are drawn to them and why others prefer cats. I'm not a fan of cats..never been a cat-person (i don't have anything against them i just prefer dogs) and i think that's because cats are a lot more independant than dogs. Some dogs aren't as "needy " as you make out but i just love the affection a dog gives you.

Just depends on the dog - some are much more independent than others. I guess if you dont want an animal who is happy to see you, you should have chosen a less affectionate breed.

I definately feel this way as well. I have 3 cats and 1 dog and that dog demands so much more attention then all 3 of my cats put together. It is just the nature of the animal. Nothing wrong with it but people should definitely research breeds and species before getting a pet to insure they know what they are getting into.

Yer know what you mean my 2 are worse then my 3 kids when i go to the bathroom one is laying in the bath for me to finish while the other one at my feet if am in the bath one still trys to get in with me or they both lying on the floor as close as they can be to me but then if i want space i just tell them bed and they go till i say to come in

If you think dogs are too needy, you'll be quite surprised if you have kids. They may be needy, but that's the reality of owning a dog.

I agree. My bulldog is my best friend but she is quite clingy.. i cant even sit down and watch tv without her thinking she should be with me. I love her to pieces though. and i know you love your dogs. but yes i agree they are as needy as little kids..

Dogs are like that. They are like small babies they hardly don't know anything. That's why the dog has you. You feed him. You give him water. You care for Him. You bathe him. You love him. You have to buy him stuff. You have to watch them. Just like a baby :)

Way to needy. I can't go pee without the dog following me into the bathroom. The worst thing is a get woken up every morning with a wet nose in my ear, wouldn't it be great if they were a little more indepemndent.
