I am looking for a dog that has a large lifespan and has no breed related health problems, like the Xolo. Does anyone have any suggestions and or possible cost of the breed in California? Also, do you know approx how much a Xolo would cost?

HEALTHY dog breeds that fit my lifestyle?
I have a sheltie and an Italian greyhound whom I LOVE to death For my third dog though, I want a larger breed, and one I can clip. I am moderately active 1.5 hour walk a day plus play exercise. The dog must be reasonably easy to train not harder than my IG who is about average. It doesn't have to be a genius like my sheltie, though.I do have a cat as well so it must be cat friendly Shedding, drooling etc doesn't matter but like I said I want a dog that I can clip preferably...Most importantly it MUST be a healthy breed. I know there are no guarantees in life but I don't want a dog with a lifespan of 8 years with 100 different hereditary diseases.Hazel I know most of it is how you raise the dog. I would prefer though a dog that does not have a tendency towards being stubborn like a beagle or one that has a high prey drive like a Borzoi .Even with health testing, there are no guarantees. Two dogs with good hip scores can throw puppies with terrible hip dysplasia. You can't genetically test for cancer and bloat. I'd like a dog that isn't prone to these in the first place like my sheltie and IG. Labs and GSDs are nice but I want a dog that I can clip.

Are Shih tzus a healthy dog breed?
We are trying to choose a family pet. I've read lots of good things about Shih tzu's, but I also read that they can have health problems. Does anyone out there have or had this type of dog? Has your dog been healthy, or are there a lot of health issues? Would you choose this breed of dog again?
