You would like a smaller dog, but don't want a " Foo Foo" type dog. Imagine, the handsome good looks of the large dog in a much smaller, more manageable package " As if we really need more mutts in the world to crowd our already over loaded pounds and shelters.I love my GSD , it's good to know your dog isn't going to be a puppy producing machine Thanks for being responsible.And, on their site, it says they've only been working with these two breeds since 2003 around the time of the Designer Dog era LOL.I'm just appalled by people who breed mutts. I absolutely adore mutts and my next dog in the future is going to be a smelly, scraggly mutt from the pound or shelter. But breeding them is absurd, simply because we are over run with homeless mutts, AND purebreds. It's disgusting.walyank, LOL. That is all. Why can't people realize that you can get the same damn dog from a shelter or rescue? ?? ? ?? ?Blue Violet, I wish they weren't lol It makes me so emotional inside, knowing that, no only are these dogs being bred to make money, but that people will actually purchase them, which costs a shelter pound dog a home... In the past week, there have been two Cockapoos at my local pound. Luckily, the first one has been adopted JUST in time, as her euthanisia would've been tomorrow... I often see a lot of Puggles and Poodle mixes there too. And that's just what's on their website who knows how many other " desinger dogs" they haven't listed...It's so cute how the thumbsdown " fairies" are just everywhere Maybe they need to find something more time consuming?Everyone got a thumbs up from me, except for Rey M, Red Dog, Dickiehead, Walyank, Hayden and Hunterdog57. I think it's MORE than just obvious why Walyank got a thumbsdown, LOL. Nice intentions, but totally oblivious to what's going on here Boxer Mom, according to the " breeders" some of the dogs do have boxer blood haha. But I agree. These dogs are not going to be actual " mini" Boxers, there is just no way. A Boxer is a Boxer, just like a Labrador is a Labrador and a Husky is a Husky. A friend of my family works in a Boxer rescue, he has two GORGEOUS Boxers that he rescued, one is white with a brown patch on her eye and the other is a dark fawn with white markings. Totally beautiful girls. Next people are going to want a pocket sized Mastiff and a teacup Saint Bernard And to add what I was saying prior... You can't just attempt to scale a dog breed down, simply because some people wouldn't want to have a large dog in their home that's absurd. The dog breeds we have today should be left as is the world is not in any need of MORE unwanted dogs.

Do YOU think there's going to be new dog breeds? Like all the dogs breeds were breed to create one dog breed and so on so forth. Everybody is calling muts, well muts. I am NOT asking if theres gonan eb dog breeds accepted by the shows and stuff, just asking if you think theres gonan be new breeds which people wont shout at you saying their muts, or their designer breeds breed by back yard breeders so, do you think there anymore dog breeds to be made and accepted as non muts?yeah I think I asked the question in that like 5 times, but oh well...
Is there work being done on creating new dog breeds?
I see a lot of questions in here about designer dogs created by backyard breeders and it raised a question for me Is anyone responsibly trying to create a new breed by consistently crossing two types of breeds using genetically healthy animals to make a cross between them that could be standardized and eventually become a breed of it's own? I'm asking out of intellectual curiosity, so if you're going to lecture about how there are already too many dogs in shelters, please save it. I'm aware of that. I'm not planning on doing this myself. I'm just wondering if this is taking place somewhere, or if it would even be possible to do. Or are purebred breeders are so protective about preserving their bloodlines that this would never happen?I'm not terribly familiar with genetics, so I don't know if this would be a possibility. I'm just wondering how new breeds come about or if they even do that anymore. I suppose a follow up question would be what was the last breed of dog that was recognized and standardized and how long did it take for it to come about?

New dog breed, when are they no longer mutts?
every now and then I come across a new dog breed, i mean completely new breeds, not designer breeds or just new to me.my question is at what point can these dogs be considered as a new breed? rather then mutts or just a variation on an established breed. a couple of examples ive come across recently King Shepherds, which seem to be just overgrown GSD American Bully which seems to be a variety of APBT Olde English Bulldogge which is an attempt to re crate the original bull dog, by crossing several different breeds.

I am a strong believer in adoption and rescues and speutering, I just also have a very curious nature But how would one be able to create a new dog breed without being accused of creating a " designer dog breed" ? wolf dog mixed african wild dog then mixed with dogo argentino then with tibetan mastiff.i think that would be a good strong guard dog. and it would take a long time to make that dog.

Does it really sound that stupid to make up a new dog breed?
Not like breeding dogs, gosh no. There's enough animals in shelters as it is. Ish talking about making up a new dog breed name and whatever. My pup Tabbi is a mutt, not a " oh, I can totally tell what breeds just by looking at you or getting a DNA test" . Mutt like she has so many breeds a DNA test would not work and you can't tell WTF she's mixed with. Upon researching and looking at her appearance behavior I've found at least the primary breeds. Well...a few of them. My friends also have mixed breeds, a handful of which look a lot like her like they're related. They got tested and have a lot of the breeds she does as primary. They were all " oh, we should totally make up a new dog breed name for our dogs. They'd be special " So I ask. Is it that stupid of a venture? Obviously the ppl of the Internet will always disagree to some point so we're doing it anyways. I was just wondering though, for like different view points.
