Yea so it's always been my dream to raise ANY of the following dog breeds AkbashAnatolian ShepherdCao da Castro LaboreiroCaucasian OvcharkaEstrela Mountain DogKarst SheepdogKuvaszMaremma SheepdogFila BrasileiroPresa CanarioTosaI live in Tennessee btw, so it might be hard to find some of these dogs. I also sometimes tease animals so I will no doubt have to work on that before buying any of the above mentioned breeds.

I love all dogs. I love mix breeds and pure breeds, but I would prefer to share my home with a pure bred dog. I also have an affinity for rare breeds. While there's nothing wrong with a Labrador Retriever per se, I would much prefer to own a Chart Polski, Azawakh, Sloughi, or Cirneco Dell'Etna. I love being able to own a pure bred dog, I get the predictability of its size, temperment, behavior, life span, and health problems. And I also like having a breed of dog that most people haven't heard of or a breed that not everyone owns. Does anyone else agree with me.If you want to criticize me for not owning mix breeds go ahead, I don't mind, I'll let you vent some of your frustration at me.Kayla, I've heard of Alapahas before, I don't really like them very much, not really my cup of tea, but you're right they are rare, not as rare as Chart Polski or Cirneco Dell'Etna though. The AKC's Federation Service Stock program accepts rare breeds, Alapahas are common enough to be accepted Charts and Circnechi aren't.Pitbull lover I think that's interesting. I didn't know Saint Bernards were so uncommon in Aus. In America they are very popular.this is for whoever asked the difference between a Chart Polski and a Greyhound. Chart Polskis are large and less refined, they were developed in Poland to hunt wolves and they tend to be fairly dog and food aggressive because of this.Greyhounds are more calm, smaller, an older breeder, were bred in the middle east, and they were bred to hunt gazelles and such. Chart Polski also come in smooth haired and long haired varieties while greyhounds just come in smooth haired. Greyhounds are also faster.

I was wondering what breeds are coined as the " rarest" among all pedigree dog breeds? On the other hand, which breeds dominate the dog world in terms of being the most common? Also, does being the rarest breed necessarily connote that it's also the most expensive?

Rare dogs breeds that you like?
It seems when someone is looking for a new dog they only look at the most popular breeds of dogs. I know they're common but people should look outside the box. So what rare breeds of dogs do you all like. I personally love Azawakhs, Sloughi, and Cirnechi dell'Etna plural of Cirneco dell'Etna. What are your comments on these dogs and what are your favorite rare breeds. Basenji, Afghan Hounds, and Salukis are MUCH MUCH rarer than French Bulldogs and I don't really consider them that rare at all.To the person who said rare dogs are not for everyone, I disagree. There is a rare breed for everyone. There are friendly, reserved, outgoing, independent, loving, protective, small, and large rare breeds. Everyone could find a rare breed to suit them perfectly but no one seems to look.And I don't want information on these breeds or your thoughts on if I should get one or not. What I want is for you to say if you like the dogs I like or not and then pick some rare dogs that you do like.
