I like dogs that kind of look like Westies, Maltese, Yorkie, Havanese, around that kind.
Torn between small dog breeds - whippet or mini pin!?
What I'm looking for in a dog is a cuddly, sweet and loving pet. Ideally I would prefer a dog that would bark at strangers just to add to household security.My husband would like a dog that is smart, loyal, trainable, and likes to go on walks. The two breeds we're considering are whippet and mini pinscher.I LOVE whippets, which are similar to Italian greyhounds but are sturdier. I think they are as cute as can be and soooo friendly, sweet and lovable. It's practically my ideal dog, except that it wouldn't bark at strangers. Also, they don't really like the cold so we'd probably have to put a coat on it during our northeast winters.Another option is mini pinscher. I have never really met one, but I've seen videos of them online. I find them sort of cute, but not as cute as a whippet. They would probably be smart and loving, but maybe not as cuddly as a whippet. As a plus, they would bark at strangers.What are your thoughts on these two breeds? I'm really torn.

Is it true small dog breeds can't physically carry the litters of large dog breeds?

Hi everyone, I'm looking to buy a dog but would prefer a small dog. I'm not too keen on chihuahua's and am not too familiar with many different breeds. I am open to any cross breeds I may not be aware of also. Any advice would be appreciated x thanks

I didn't mean to be misleading. The reason I said " other than a poodle" is because I already have a poodle. She's a great dog, but I think she needs a playmate. I just wanted to explore other breeds. Thanks for all the great answers
What small dog breed is good for first time sog owners?
I have been wanting a dog for 5 and a half or 6 years and i have done ao much research. My parents have finally agreed to get a dog this summer since we will be home. I think we r going to get a puppy instead of a grown dog. My mom wants a dachshund, and my dad wants a big dog, my sister really has no preference. My mom says no to a big dog since they have a high activity level and we dont have a big enough yard. I currently work at a local animal shelter so i can have an idea if which breeds r good. I want a small, sweet, semi active, lapdog, that is great with families and easy to train. My friend's dog is having puppies, her dog is a cavalier king charles spabiel, she has a wonderful personality And she isn't like the tiny cavaliers she is actually pretty big, so i like that. Please help It can be a mixed dog too oh and we have bunnies and a cat, the bunnies r in an above ground cage outside that is two stories. Thanks 3

I am looking at a maltese, yorkshire terrier, and a boston terrier. I live in a pretty big house and theres a lot of hardwood and tiles. I need some suggestions on what small dog breed i should get. I am getting a dog in the summer mabye longer or earlier really depends on if i can find a breeder. This will be my first dog.Thanks

Soo i am looking for a small dog breed and i don't want a fuzzy small dog i want a good looking one. is there such thing as a chihuahua bull mastiff mix?? I want something with chihuahua but mixed with something like a bull mastiff. sooo any suggestions?

This would be for an apartment but I would of course walk jog hike with the dog at least every day. After looking through many breeds we've narrowed it down to one of the small dog breeds.We're looking for A small dog, one that loves attention and is affectionate, loves cuddles etcPlayfulGood with catsLow shedding though I know you still need to groom Lively and spiritedGood watchdog, but friendly to people of course we will socialise him or her well Can travel in the car okay, my parents own a business a few miles away so the dog would go into work with themOne thing I've heard about small dogs is that they bark a lot? Is this true? and what can you do to stop it calm it down? I know all dogs bark but I was just wondering about your opinion, I've heard it depends on the dog.We have a quiet no arguments, no long term visitors etc household and no small children.Thank you Just in case you need to know I'm 16 and go to school, this is a family dog. If we get a puppy from a breeder though we love rescuing animals, and will check a load of shelters then we'll get him or her in my Summer break.Also we can easily do the walks they require. One short in the morning, one long 15 minutes in the afternoon and another long walk in the evening plus lots of play time. At the weekends we love going to the park and spending time there.We'll probably keep the coat short a puppy or pet cut I think its called? at a groomers.By cuddles I didn't mean squeeze and don't let go kinda cuddles.
